Marriage fund elicits generous response

The President's Freedom to Marry Fund, created by the UUA in March 2004, raised more than $100,000 in its first three months. The fund was established to enable the UUA to take a more vocal role in the public discussion on same-sex marriage as a civil right. The issue will be up for debate in many states, and in Massachusetts opponents have begun a process that could amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage in 2006.
