The Rev. Liz Lerner Maclay is senior minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring, Md. Raised Unitarian Universalist in Newton, Mass., she earned an M.Div. and a Th.M. from Harvard Divinity School. Her studies focused on the archaeology, texts, and history of ancient Greek religion, Hellenistic Judaism, and early Christianity. She has served Unitarian Universalist congregations in Lexington, Mass., and Mt. Kisco, N.Y. She has also filled a number of roles on the board of Unitarian Universalists for Jewish Awareness. Lerner recently conducted sabbatical studies on Minoan archaeology, gender, and religion at the Institute of Aegean Prehistory on the island of Crete in Greece. She lives in Fairfax Station, Va.
