Following the tradition of commissioning a portrait of each UUA president at the conclusion of their term, the Unitarian Universalist Association commissioned this portrait of the Rev. William G. Sinkford before his eight-year presidency came to an end on June 30, 2009. The painting was done by artist Shelley Thayer Layton of Norwell, Mass., and presented to Sinkford at a farewell reception June 3. Danielle Sinkford, the president’s daughter, unveiled the portrait, which currently hangs in Eliot Chapel at UUA headquarters in Boston. Sinkford, who is now senior minister and advisor to the UU Urban Ministry in Boston, was succeeded by the Rev. Peter Morales, who was elected the UUA’s eighth president at the 2009 General Assembly.
