Carnival in Trinidad
Inner journeys.
Marjean Willett describes a practice of “putting random areas of color on the paper and then studying them from all angles to see if they could be turned into anything. A number of them seem to have turned into dancing, often black, figures; this seems odd, since I am an aging white Unitarian who never was much of a dancer. I have described these paintings as being ‘inner journeys’ to distinguish them from my more conventional travel-oriented paintings.”
