Obituaries

Robert L. Cope

The Rev. Robert L. Cope died September 1, 2004, at 81 years of age.

Born in New York City on October 3, 1922, Cope was raised in Teaneck, New Jersey. He received a B.A. from St. Lawrence University and a B.D. from St. Lawrence Theological School and also did graduate work at Union Theological School and Columbia University. He was ordained in 1946 at St. Lawrence University.

Cope served congregations in Princeton, New Jersey; and Henderson, New York City, and Buffalo, New York. He served as a professor of religious education at the St. Lawrence University School from 1957 to 1960.  

Cope is survived by his wife, Patricia Bateman Cope, and two children.
