Keep up with the latest news from the UUA's annual meeting.
Visit blogs.uuworld.org/ga for the latest reports, or subscribe to our General Assembly feed. Visit the UUA website’s General Assembly 2010 section for streaming video of plenary sessions and major events as well as a guide to UU World’s coverage. Highlights of our coverage will also be publicized on UU World’s Facebook page and Twitter page.
Perhaps the hottest topic this year is the debate about boycotting Arizona, the site of the 2012 General Assembly and the focus of a national debate about undocumented immigrants. Other issues will also captivate delegates, however, including a Statement of Conscience on “Creating Peace” and proposals to reform the governance of the UUA and change the way we select the Association’s top leaders. (See UU World’s guide to GA business for a quick overview; the full business agenda is also available online.)
UU World will be covering the debates and votes in plenary sessions, of course, but we’ll also cover discussions that haven’t yet crystallized into bylaw amendments or plenary agenda items. The Board of Trustees will be hosting a series of conversations throughout GA about the governance roles of congregations, districts, and the General Assembly, for example, which we’ll cover.
And we’ll cover the major events that draw regular GA-goers back each year, from the Opening Celebration to the Service of the Living Tradition to the Sunday morning worship service.
UU World’s team of reporters includes editor Christopher L. Walton, senior editors Jane Greer and Donald E. Skinner, managing editor Kenneth Sutton, and assistant editor Sonja L. Cohen. Photographers Nancy Pierce, Fred Garcia, Juliana Garcia, and Katie Garcia will document the convention, with a photo gallery at UU World’s Flickr page.
